Holly Hunter, an American actor and producer, is renowned for her roles in movies such as Broadcast News The Firm The Piano The Incredibles. Her movie Piano won her an Oscar. Early on she began acting on stage in a number of Broadway or Off-Broadway productions. Passionate about acting since her school days she played Helen Keller in a play in the fifth grade. The mumps that she contracted left her blind and deaf in one ear. However, she didn't let this to stop her from becoming an actor. She was a drama major at the college before moving from Pittsburgh to New York City to follow her dreams. Hunter came across Beth Henley by chance in the lift. They wrote together Broadway Crimes of the Heart. The play was Hunter's first acting debut. Following her move from Los Angeles she tried to get film roles and bagged an acting role as a support on Swing Shift. Her career spans more than 30 years, and she's been featured in numerous TV shows as well as series and films. Holly Hunter has a Hollywood Walk of Fame star and won Women in Film Lucy Award.
